Who Am I?

My name is Candice Clarke, and I am a Renaissance person. I’m someone that has taken the time to go through a slow transformation from a timid and shy girl to a young woman seeking, and taking every opportunity handed to me to accomplish my goals. I am a writer, there isn’t a topic in the world that I would not write about, because I refuse to be censored, and I hope for people to read the work that I write one day. I am a singer who can sing in three octaves. My favorite styles of music are opera and broadway musicals, and one day I hope to be in a broadway musical. Last but not least, I am a dancer. Dancing is very new to me, and currently I have been doing belly dancing as well as hip-hop. I plan on taking theater dance and ballet by the end of March. I refuse to let any problem I come across get in the way of making any of my goals come true.

There is much more than just a creative side to me. I also have to keep up with my academics to feel completely accomplished in life. Currently I am an undergrad student double majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing, and sociology. I was a women and gender studies major, but as I talked to mentors that do social work they suggested that it would be best if I majored in sociology, and focus on community organizations that deal with women issues. I am determined and highly motivated to be the best person I can be in life. My goal is not to be average, but to be extraordinary.

I am well on my way to accomplishing all of my goals, but I would not be this way if it were not for my family supporting me in everything that I do. My loving parents who would do anything for me and dreams, and a wonderful older brother who takes time to make sure that I do not get overwhelmed with a busy schedule. My family has helped me grow into the person that I am today. I am a determined, motivated, strong willed young woman who is not afraid to go to extra lengths to accomplish my goals. I am a Renaissance person, and I am thankful for those who have helped and watched my rebirth.
